Designing Leadership Programs
Association staff and volunteers come to Npower when they need help with larger-scale leadership development initiatives. They call when they need create leadership development modules, training sessions, materials, and other resources. Sometimes they have the talent in the association to create leadership training programs … but they don't have the time or a success process for creating it. Some have talented facilitators but lack program designers.
Npower writes facilitator guides and creates the learning tools that go along with those workshop outlines. Activities, worksheets, PowerPoint, and other materials are developed to maximize the learning in every program.
Three Types of Programs Clients Look to Me to Create:
Leadership Institutes/Conferences
A leadership institute involves several days with large group teaching segments and interactive exercises with debriefing as well as small group facilitator-led conversations. Npower team members travel to your site to lead the large group sessions and train the small group facilitators to work with the conversation teams.
Personal/Professional Development Initiatives
These initiatives are highly specialized programs based on the values and priorities of the organization. These meet specific organization interests and needs.
Modules
Many clients have highly capable facilitators/presenters in their associations but don't have the time or ability to create a highly interactive, purposeful workshop. Npower provides user-friendly facilitator guides with handouts and visual aids and a coaching session for the presenters. I want to make sure your team of presenters feel comfortable delivering the programs we design.
The Process:
Contact Karyn Nishimura Sneath to discuss your needs, the demographics of your participants, and the outlines you desire.
Complete a Learning Outcomes Form to capture any thoughts we don't cover verbally.
From there we create a custom-designed program based on our conversations. We set key dates for deliverables and communicate regularly throughout the development of the program
Planning for the Future
Planning for your association's future involves more than just creating a mission or vision statement. Strategic planning involves listening to your constituents, identifying critical issues, creating a plan for success, and implementing the plan.
Npower has worked with associations ranging from 5,000 individual members to those with more than 250,000 individual members.
Presenting Leadership Programs
Some motivational speakers can command a room of 10,000 or more! Not me. I call those a "sit 'n git" - you sit and you git information.
Those who have seen Npower team members present and facilitate know we work best with an audience of 20-150. We can stretch the interactive exercises for larger groups but with more people than that, the learning environment just isn't conducive to participant-focused learning.
Npower workshops are always interactive, but not "touchy feely." We promise people won't have to hold hands or sing "Kumbaya" during the program!
Facilitating programs is one of our favorite things to do! Presenting empowering workshops where people feel smarter, stronger, and more confident is what keeps us in the consulting arena.
